Manchester City line up €100 million move for Ademola Lookman

Manchester City are rumoured to be lining up a mammoth €100 million offer to prise Ademola Lookman away from Atalanta in January.

According to Fichajes, Manchester City are reportedly open to paying around €100 million to sign Ademola Lookman in January. The 27-year-old wantaway attacker was close to leaving Atalanta in the summer, as Pep Guardiola could look at him as a big option to improve his attack in the winter window.

Ademola Lookman was destined to leave Atalanta in the summer, as Inter Milan appeared to be the most likely destination for the Nigerian international. As the saga transpired, Atalanta were steadfast in their demands for the 27-year-old wantaway attacker, but the Nerazzurri could not return with an improved offer.

Atalanta could look to sell the attacker when the winter window opens in January, as they are certain a host of clubs will be interested. Tottenham looked at him as an alternative to then-target Savinho, but then ruled out any approach for Lookman thereafter.

Manchester City are the latest to enter the conversation, as Pep Guardiola is eager to bring in an experienced attacker during the January window. Some quarters feel the Catalan tactician is short of an attacker or two, which has left the team with a weakened bench this season.

To consolidate a long and guelling season, Manchester City are likely to explore a move for a new attacker, with the report claimning they are willing to table a €100 million bid for Ademola Lookman. It is quite baffling given, Atalanta wanted half that during the summer and could still demand as much during the January window for the 27-year-old wantaway attacker.

Manchester City are keen to sign a new attacker

Manchester City might consider a move for Lookman, but they are unlikely to pay as much as €100 million, although they may not object to forking out half that. The 27-year-old wantaway attacker is not the only name on their shortlist, as Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes is also a key target.

PSG’s Bradley Barcola is another important name on their shortlist, and given the names mentioned in different reports, Manchester City might be prepared to pay a hefty fee for such a player. As for Lookman, they are unlikely to pay anywhere close to the €100 million figure mentioned in the report, although that does not rule out an approach for the Atalanta star in January.
