Newcastle United ramping up efforts to agree Valentino Livramento deal

Newcastle United will attempt to secure an agreement with 22-year-old English international Valentino Livramento on a new contract amid his links with Manchester City.

According to a report by Football Insider, Valentino Livramento is the subject of interest from Manchester City. The Citizens are eager to bolster their defensive unit by signing a right-back next year. So, the 22-year-old Newcastle United wide player remains a target for the Premier League giants.

The Citizens were keen on securing the Englishman’s services in the summer transfer window before a deal failed to materialise. However, with Manchester City still interested in Livramento, Newcastle United will “do everything” to secure an agreement with the young full-back on a new contract.

Valentino Livramento and his excellent spell with Newcastle United

Valentino Livramento has made significant progress since joining Newcastle United from Southampton in August 2023. The 22-year-old has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League in the last two years while usurping Kieran Trippier to become the Tyneside club’s first-choice right-back.

The English international has made nearly 100 appearances thus far for Newcastle United while chipping in with one goal and three assists. Meanwhile, Livramento’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Manchester City will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature next year.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Valentino Livramento has been on Manchester City’s radar for a long time. The Citizens were keen on signing the Newcastle United wide player in the summer transfer window, before a deal failed to materialise. However, the continued interest is understandable, as Rico Lewis is the only recognised right-back in Pep Guardiola’s squad after they sold Kyle Walker to Burnley.

While Lewis has signed a new contract with Manchester City, his long-term prospects are uncertain after his gradual growth in the last few seasons. So, instead of utilising Matheus Nunes on the right flank, Manchester City can do with a new right-back to compete with Lewis, making Livramento a viable target. However, Newcastle United will soon open contract talks with the 22-year-old Englishman.

The Magpies are ready to “do everything” to secure an agreement with Livramento amid Manchester City’s renewed push for his signature. With Eddie Howe keen on keeping the English international at St. James’ Park, it will be interesting to see if the youngster remains committed to Newcastle United.
