Paris FC defensive prospect Dimitri Colau is reportedly on the verge of joining West Ham United, and he will sign a four-year contract with the East London outfit.
According to a report by French outlet Foot Mercato, Dimitri Colau has been the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers have been keen on reinforcing their squad by signing a backup defender in the summer transfer window. So, the 19-year-old Paris FC centre-back prospect has been a target for the East London outfit.
The Hammers have struck an agreement to seal a summer move for the Frenchman, who will sign a four-year contract when he completes his move to the East London club. Colau will arrive in England on Saturday before undergoing his medical tests to seal the switch to West Ham United.
Who is Dimitri Colau?
Dimitri Colau is the latest prospect to rise in prominence in his homeland. While the 19-year-old is not a world-class prodigy, France’s record of producing eye-catching defenders has continued with his emergence. A native of Paris, the youngster began his youth career with Saint-Denis US before graduating from the youth division at Paris FC.
However, while Colau has five first-team appearances for Paris FC, he has yet to become a regular for the Ligue 1 outfit. That will not happen, as the French defensive prospect is on the verge of moving to England, with West Ham United striking an agreement to sign him from Paris FC.
London calling?
West Ham United’s interest in Dimitri Colau is understandable. The Hammers have been combing the market for a centre-back throughout the summer transfer window, as Jean-Clair Todibo and Konstantinos Mavropanos have not been impressive enough at the back for the East London club.
Several candidates have thus emerged on West Ham United’s radar, with Colau also a viable target. However, the 19-year-old Frenchman will initially represent West Ham’s reserve side before becoming an option for the first-team squad.
Meanwhile, Colau will arrive in England on Saturday to undergo his medical tests. The French defensive prospect will sign a four-year contract when he completes his move to West Ham United. The young defender will join compatriot Soungoutou Magassa, with reports claiming the Hammers have an agreement to sign the AS Monaco prospect.
