Tottenham could step up interest in Nico Paz or Rodrygo Goes if Morgan Rogers move fails

Tottenham are expected to step up their interest in either Nico Paz or Rodrygo Goes if they fail to sign Morgan Rogers before the transfer deadline.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham have identified Nico Paz or Rodrygo Goes as their key alternatives in case they fail with a move for Morgan Rogers. Signing the Aston Villa star may come with complications, and there are more issues in signing the Como playmaker and the Real Madrid star.

Tottenham are gearing up for a tense end to their transfer window, considering they are still angling for key moves in the market. Thomas Frank wants to bring in attackers in the wide area and a playmaker. Finding the latter has proved challenging so far after they failed to land Morgan Gibbs-White amid controversial circumstances.

The requirement became imperative after James Maddison’s ACL injury, and they have already failed in their pursuit of Eberechi Eze. Spurs had immediately identified Morgan Rogers as an alternative to Eze, but there are plenty of complications to conclude that particular deal.

For starters, Aston Villa are likely to demand a premium price for the attacking midfielder, and even then, they are not currently planning to sell him. Hence, should Tottenham fail in their efforts to sign the 23-year-old England international, they have identified two more complex alternatives in Nico Paz and Rodrygo Goes.

Tottenham could struggle with Nico Paz and Rodrygo Goes deals

Tottenham held an interest in Rodrygo earlier in the window, and the Brazilian showed no interest in making the switch then. The sentiment might not have changed, given there are far bigger clubs angling for his signature if he decides to leave Real Madrid.

Rodrygo might be seen as an option for the wide role and possibly an alternative to Savinho rather than Rogers. The chances of Spurs landing the Real Madrid star are slim at the moment, and the same might be said for the Serie A playmaker Nico Paz.

Tottenham have already failed with a bid for Nico Paz, and Real Madrid are making things complicated for Spurs in the pursuit of the playmaker. The Spanish giants hold multiple clauses in his contract that allow them total control of the player’s future, as Florentino Perez is keen to bring him back next summer, and if the Madrid supremo cannot exercise the buy-back clause, then he would match any rival bid Como receives.
