Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a move for Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche as an alternative to the Manchester City attacker Savinho.
They were hoping to sign the Brazilian attacker, but the asking price from Manchester City has forced them to look at alternatives. Manchester City are holding out for a fee of £70 million for the Brazilian. On the other hand, the French attacker could be available for a fee of just £47.5 million, as per The Independent. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham come forward with an offer to sign the 23-year-old in the coming weeks.
They need more depth in the attacking unit, and Akliouche would be a solid long-term acquisition. He is highly rated in France, and he has a bright future. He has the quality to adapt to English football, and he could help them improve further. The player has previously been linked with Arsenal as well.
The 23-year-old is a wide player who is capable of operating on either flank. He will add some much-needed cutting edge in the final third. James Maddison has been sidelined with an injury, and Son Heung-min has left the club during the summer transfer window. Tottenham need more quality in the final third. They have brought in Mohammed Kudus, but they should look to invest in another quality attacker. Ideally, they should invest in a reliable centre forward as well. Dominic Solanke failed to score goals consistently last season, and he needs more support in the attack.
Akliouche could be excited to join Tottenham
The opportunity to move to England will be exciting for the 23-year-old, and regular football in the Premier League could help him improve further. Thomas Frank might be able to help the player improve and fulfil his potential. It will be interesting to see whether Tottenham are prepared to pay his asking price. They will hope to convince Monaco to accept a more reasonable offer. Even though he is a talented young player with a bright future, £47.5 million seems like a premium investment for him.
It will be difficult to convince Manchester City to reduce their demands for Savinho, and therefore, Tottenham are probably better off pushing for the French attacker instead.
