Crystal Palace may pursue a loan deal for 29-year-old South Korean international Hwang Hee-chan to replace Eberechi Eze in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by The Sun, Hwang Hee-chan is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The Eagles are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile attacker in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Eberechi Eze’s long-term future. So, the 29-year-old Wolverhampton Wanderers forward has emerged as a target for the South London club.
The 2024/25 FA Cup winners are keeping tabs on the Chuncheon native, and they will pursue a season-long loan deal if the player becomes a top target for them. Meanwhile, Eze’s departure depends on Crystal Palace’s ability to land a replacement amid the English playmaker’s links with Tottenham Hotspur.
Hwang Hee-chan and his Premier League journey so far
Hwang Hee-chan has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Wolverhampton Wanderers from RB Leipzig. The Black Country outfit initially sealed a loan deal in July 2021 before completing a permanent move 12 months later. The 29-year-old has shown flashes of brilliance in the last four years, but his stock has fallen since Vitor Pereira took over at Molineux.
The South Korean international has turned out 120 times thus far for Wolverhampton Wanderers while chipping in with 24 goals and eight assists. Meanwhile, despite Hwang’s inconsistencies, his stock in the market is high, with Crystal Palace among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
London calling?
Crystal Palace’s interest in Hwang Hee-chan is understandable. The Eagles are in a spot of bother over Eberechi Eze’s long-term future, and the English playmaker will likely depart from Selhurst Park in the summer transfer window. With Tottenham Hotspur inching closer to signing Eze, Crystal Palace must scour the market for a replacement.
Widespread reports have linked Crystal Palace with Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis and Leicester City playmaker Bilal El Khannouss. However, Hwang has also emerged as a viable target for the South London club, and they are mulling over a loan move for the 29-year-old South Korean international.
With the 2024/25 FA Cup winners keeping their options open, they will likely remain prepared to sign a replacement if they strike an agreement with Tottenham for Eze’s transfer. It will be interesting to see if Hwang joins Crystal Palace on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer transfer window.
