Tottenham considering €70 million move for Takefusa Kubo

Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly look to sign 24-year-old Japanese international Takefusa Kubo from Real Sociedad in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Takefusa Kubo is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a wide attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 24-year-old Real Sociedad winger has emerged as a target for the North London outfit.

Meanwhile, the Basque outfit will demand around €70 million to part ways with Kubo, and the price tag will unlikely deter Tottenham. The 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners are “seriously considering making the financial commitment” by forking out €70 million to secure Kubo’s services in the summer transfer window.

Takefusa Kubo and his La Liga journey with Real Sociedad

Takefusa Kubo has made considerable progress since joining Real Sociedad from Real Madrid in July 2022. While the 24-year-old winger should have been more productive in the last three years, he has established himself as a pivotal figure for the Basque outfit and has shown signs of growth.

The Japanese international has turned out nearly 150 times thus far for Real Sociedad while chipping in with 24 goals and 18 assists. Meanwhile, Kubo’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Tottenham Hotspur will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

London calling?

Takefusa Kubo has been on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar for a long time. The continued interest is understandable, considering the Lilywhites have ended their long association with Son Heung-min in the summer transfer window. While Richarlison has shown signs of resurgence, Tottenham can do with an offensive reinforcement.

Filling Son’s void may be a tall order, but the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners view Kubo as a viable target. While Real Sociedad will demand around €70 million to part ways with the former Real Madrid winger, the price tag has not fazed Tottenham Hotspur.

The report has suggested that the Lilywhites are “seriously considering making the financial commitment” by forking out €70 million to sign the 24-year-old Japanese international. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Kubo amid his links with Tottenham.
