The struggling Premier League giants are discussing a deal worth €80 million with the Bundesliga outfit. However, Manchester United may have fallen behind Newcastle United after the 2024/25 EFL Cup winners submitted their opening bid to sign Sesko. Nevertheless, that has not dampened the spirits at Old Trafford, as the Red Devils are pushing for a summer move.
Benjamin Sesko and his rise at RB Leipzig
Benjamin Sesko has seen his stock soar since joining RB Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg in July 2023. The 22-year-old has come leaps and bounds at the Red Bull Arena, even though he was not a regular starter from the get-go.
The Slovenian international enjoyed an excellent 2024/25 campaign, contributing to 27 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions by finding the back of the net 21 times and providing six assists. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Manchester United and Newcastle United are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Premier League adventure on the cards?
Manchester United’s interest in Benjamin Sesko is understandable. So, Sesko has emerged as a viable target for Manchester United, with the struggling Premier League giants discussing a deal worth €80 million with RB Leipzig.
As for Newcastle United, the Tyneside outfit recently offered a package worth €80 million to sign the 22-year-old RB Leipzig striker in the summer transfer window, creating a wave of optimism at St. James’ Park. While the Bundesliga giants have rejected the bid, widespread reports have suggested that the Magpies are increasingly confident of signing Sesko.
Recent reports have suggested that the Slovenian international is keen on joining Newcastle United in the summer transfer window. However, with Manchester United also making a move to land the young striker, the two Premier League clubs may be on the verge of a bidding war.
