Everton increasingly unlikely to sign Takefusa Kubo

Everton will unlikely sign 24-year-old Japanese international Takefusa Kubo from La Liga club Real Sociedad in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Takefusa Kubo is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are eager to bolster their offensive unit by signing a wide attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 24-year-old Real Sociedad winger has emerged as a target for the Merseyside outfit.

However, Everton will unlikely sign the former Real Madrid prospect in the summer transfer window due to Real Sociedad’s asking price to part ways with him. La Real will demand €60 million to sell Kubo. While Everton can afford the valuation and have “the financial capacity to match that clause, they are reluctant to do so.”

Takefusa Kubo and his time at Real Sociedad

Takefusa Kubo has made considerable progress since joining Real Sociedad from Real Madrid in July 2022. The 24-year-old could not make his mark at Real Madrid after failing to establish a foothold in the first-team squad at the Santiago Bernabeu, embarking on multiple loan spells. However, the player has come leaps and bounds at Real Sociedad in the last three years.

The Japanese international has turned out nearly 150 times thus far for Real Sociedad while chipping in with 23 goals and 18 assists. Meanwhile, Kubo’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Everton will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Will Everton sign Kubo?

Everton’s interest in Takefusa Kubo is understandable. The Toffees are scouring the market for a new wide attacker this summer after choosing not to complete permanent moves for Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom after their loan deals ended. While Harrison remains a target for Everton, they have kept their options open.

Kubo has also emerged as a viable target for Everton this summer. Recent reports suggested the Merseyside outfit would launch the offensive to sign the former Real Madrid winger in the summer transfer window. However, Real Sociedad’s asking price has complicated matters for Everton, with La Real insisting on a fee worth €60 million to part ways with him.

While the Toffees have the “financial capacity to match that clause, they are reluctant to do so”. So, Everton will unlikely sign the 24-year-old Japanese international from La Liga club Real Sociedad in the summer transfer window.
