Chelsea are ready to send striker prospect Marc Guiu on a Premier League loan to help him gain a foothold in the top flight.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Marc Guiu could be set to join one of the Premier League sides on loan for the upcoming season. Chelsea are prepared to sanction such a move to help the 19-year-old get a foothold in the top flight, as Sunderland and Leeds United are some of those sides keen.
Chelsea have been aggressive in the transfer market when it comes to signing attackers. The club have reinforced the attacking setup with signings like Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens. They are further interested in signing Xavi Simons and maintain an interest in Alejandro Garnacho, which shows the club are not done with their attacking signing business.
Those arrivals do leave a few of the current first team stars dispensable, with Noni Madueke already departing to join Arsenal, while there are active rumours for Nicolas Jackson to depart. Meanwhile, 19-year-old Chelsea attacking sensation Marc Guiu could find it very difficult to get minutes in this tough attacking setup.
Chelsea had plans to send him on loan for the upcoming season, although their ideas differed from what they are thinking currently. RC Strasbourg were interested in him earlier, while there were admirers from the Championship, as Ipswich Town and Middlesbrough were keen to take him on a season-long deal.
However, it appears the 19-year-old Chelsea attacking sensation is not eager to drop down to the Championship and wants to stay in the Premier League. The Blues approve of the idea, and they are ready to consider loan proposals ahead. The idea is to allow Guiu to get a foothold in the top flight with consistent minutes, but that may be designed to improve his value for the future.
Sunderland and Leeds United are interested
Sunderland are interested in taking Guiu on loan despite his relative lack of experience in the top flight, as they continue their impressive recruitment this summer. The idea might revolve around having the 19-year-old Chelsea attacking sensation as a backup option to help compete for a regular spot, which may help the Spaniard in his quest to improve.
Leeds United are also keen and looking at someone like Guiu for a similar role as a backup. Much like Sunderland, Leeds United can allow the 19-year-old Chelsea attacking sensation a platform to develop in their team, as they fight to stay alive in the top flight after their promotion.
