Crystal Palace will reportedly look to sign 21-year-old Moroccan international Bilal El Khannouss if Eberechi Eze departs from Selhurst Park in the summer transfer window.
According to an update by reputed French journalist Santi Aouna, Bilal El Khannouss is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The Eagles are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile playmaker in the summer transfer window. So, the 21-year-old Leicester City prospect has emerged as a target for the South London club.
The 2024/25 FA Cup winners view the Strombeek-Bever native as a long-term replacement for Eberechi Eze amid the English playmaker’s links with Premier League bigwigs. However, Crystal Palace will face stiff competition from RB Leipzig for El Khannouss’s signature in the summer transfer window.
Bilal El Khannouss and his career so far
Bilal El Khannouss was among the most promising playmakers in the Premier League in the 2024/25 season, even though Leicester City suffered relegation to the EFL Championship. The 21-year-old spent his formative years in Belgium, graduating from the youth division at KRC Genk. However, he rose in prominence after joining Leicester City last summer.
The move came after El Khannouss won the bronze medal with Morocco at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Moroccan international has turned out nearly 50 times thus far for Leicester City while chipping in with three goals and five assists. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several Premier League clubs, including Crystal Palace.
London calling?
Crystal Palace’s interest in Bilal El Khannouss is understandable. The Eagles are scouring the market for a versatile attacker this summer amid uncertainties surrounding Eberechi Eze’s long-term future. Several candidates, including Viktor Tsygankov, have emerged on Crystal Palace’s radar, with El Khannouss also a viable target.
Santi Aouna has suggested that El Khannouss is Crystal Palace’s top target to replace Eze in the summer transfer window. However, the South London outfit will face stiff competition from RB Leipzig for the Olympics 2024 bronze medalist.
The opportunity to play in the Premier League will be exciting for El Khannouss, and Crystal Palace can also offer him the chance to enjoy European football. It will be interesting to see if the South London outfit can beat RB Leipzig to the 21-year-old Moroccan international’s signature in the summer transfer window.
