Morgan Gibbs-White intent on Tottenham move despite Manchester City interest

Nottingham Forest midfield mainstay Morgan Gibbs-White is determined to complete his move to giants Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a report from TBR Football, Tottenham Hotspur remain focused on finalising Morgan Gibbs-White’s transfer in the coming days. While they have the green light from the player and were ready to trigger his release clause, Nottingham Forest are trying hard to hold onto the English international, but they are unlikely to succeed.

Gibbs-White has only gone from strength to strength since joining Nottingham from Wolves in the summer of 2022. Not only did he establish himself as one of their mainstays, but he is also widely regarded as one of the best attacking midfielders in England.

The 25-year-old’s impressive performances have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs. Tottenham are one of the clubs that have been very keen on securing his services. Thomas Frank seeks more creativity in the final third, and the Tottenham manager considers Gibbs-White an ideal fit for his system and the club’s project.

Tottenham remain focused on Gibbs-White

Thomas Frank wants someone who could battle James Maddison for a place in the starting XI and cover for him, given his injury track record. Morgan Gibbs-White had already agreed in principle to join Tottenham, and the North London club were ready to trigger his confidential £60 million release clause.

While the English international was on the verge of joining Spurs, Nottingham Forest decided to take legal action as they wanted to know how Tottenham became aware of the clause. Amidst all this, the move was put on hold.

However, both Tottenham and the 25-year-old are keen on finalising the move in the near future. While Gibbs-White has just linked up with Nottingham Forest on their pre-season tour in Portugal after missing the initial phase, he is still expected to be on the move this summer.

Nottingham Forest are trying hard to hold onto their star, and they were even hoping Manchester City would revive their interest in him. But that has not happened as Pep Guardiola’s team have moved on from the former Wolves star after he made it clear that he wants to join Spurs.
