Chelsea ready to sanction Marc Guiu loan exit this summer

Chelsea will be ready to sanction a loan exit for 19-year-old Spanish attacking sensation Marc Guiu in the summer transfer window.

According to an update by reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Marc Guiu faces an uncertain future at Chelsea. The Blues have been active in the market to reinforce their offensive unit in the summer transfer window, adding Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Jamie Gittens to Enzo Maresca’s squad.

The situation has left Nicolas Jackson and Guiu in a spot of bother at Chelsea, with the latter, in particular, unlikely to get any game time in the 2025/26 season. So, the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup winners are ready to sanction a loan exit for the Spaniard, but the deal will not include a purchase option. Chelsea would prefer an English loan, as they “want Guiu to develop and play in England next season”.

Marc Guiu and his sticky situation

Marc Guiu has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Chelsea from Barcelona last summer. The Granollers native arrived at the West London club with hype and fanfare surrounding him after his exploits for Barcelona in the 2023/24 season. The 19-year-old lived up to the billing in his debut campaign with the West London club and produced a few memorable performances.

While the Spanish attacking sensation has managed only 619 minutes of game time across 16 appearances and chipped in with six goals, he has been impressive in his outings in the final third. It is also worth noting that the youngster missed most of the second half of the 2024/25 season due to a hamstring injury. However, the decision-makers at Chelsea rate Guiu highly.

What next?

While Guiu has admirers at Chelsea, he will unlikely secure regular game time in the 2025/26 season, as his stock has fallen after the arrival of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro this summer. In addition, Nicolas Jackson is ahead of him in the pecking order, although the Senegalese international wants a summer exit amid his links with Manchester United.

Guiu has no shortage of suitors pursuing his signature, with recent reports linking him with Leeds United and Ipswich Town. The 19-year-old Spaniard is also a target for RC Strasbourg, Chelsea’s sister club. However, the Blues want to send the former Barcelona wonderkid on loan to an English club instead of sanctioning an agreement with a foreign outfit.

The 2024/25 UEFA Europa Conference League winners want Guiu to develop and play in England next season. Meanwhile, the loan move away from Chelsea will not come with a purchase option. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Spanish attacking sensation.
