West Ham United begin negotiations to sign Georgiy Sudakov

West Ham United will reportedly look to sign 22-year-old Ukrainian international Georgiy Sudakov from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer transfer window.

According to an update by French journalist Sebastien Vidal, Georgiy Sudakov is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a dynamic midfielder in the summer transfer window. So, the 22-year-old Shakhtar Donetsk prospect has emerged as a target for the East London club.

The Hammers have initiated the discussions to secure Sudakov’s services in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Shakhtar Donetsk will demand around £30 million to part ways with the Bryanka native in the summer transfer window, with West Ham ready to accelerate the move to secure his services.

The rise and rise of Georgiy Sudakov

Georgiy Sudakov has established himself as one of the most promising young midfielders in the world since breaking into the first-team squad at Shakhtar Donetsk. The 22-year-old has made his mark with his ability to chip in with goals and assists regularly, and it was more of the same in the 2024/25 season.

Sudakov contributed to 21 goals in 37 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net 15 times and providing six assists. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian midfielder’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Premier League outfits, in particular, are keen on signing the Ukrainian international, with West Ham United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

London calling?

West Ham United’s interest in Georgiy Sudakov is understandable. The Hammers are scouring the market for a dynamic midfielder this summer after Carlos Soler failed to make his mark during a dreadful loan spell in the 2024/25 season. In addition, Tomas Soucek, Guido Rodriguez, and James Ward-Prowse face an uncertain future at the London Stadium.

Several midfielders, including Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, have emerged on West Ham’s radar, with Sudakov also an option worth considering. The Hammers have begun the negotiations to sign the highly-rated midfielder in the summer transfer window, with Shakhtar Donetsk demanding around £30 million to part ways with him.

Shakhtar Donetsk’s asking price to sell Sudakov makes him an appealing target for West Ham. With the East London outfit ready to accelerate the move to sign the 22-year-old Ukrainian international, it will be interesting to see if a deal worth £30 million sees the light of day.
