The decision-makers at Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly confident of keeping 22-year-old Italian full-back Destiny Udogie at the club beyond the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Gazzetta dello Sport, as relayed by Sport Witness, Destiny Udogie will likely remain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium beyond the summer transfer window. The decision-makers at the North London club are increasingly optimistic about keeping the young full-back for at least another season.
AC Milan and Manchester City have been keen on signing the Verona native. However, the two European bigwigs have cooled their interest in Udogie, with Manchester City landing Rayan Ait-Nouri and AC Milan striking an agreement to sign Pervis Estupinan. Meanwhile, Tottenham’s price to sell the youngster has not changed, and it remains €50 million.
How has Destiny Udogie fared at Tottenham?
Destiny Udogie has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Udinese in August 2022. The 22-year-old has spent two seasons with the North London club after going back to Udinese on loan for the 2022/23 campaign. While the youngster was hot off the blocks at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he has blown hot and cold in the last 12 months.
The Italian international has turned out over 50 times thus far for Tottenham while chipping in with two goals and four assists. Meanwhile, Udogie’s stock in the market has been high coming into the summer transfer window. Widespread reports have linked the youngster with AC Milan and Manchester City, with Tottenham demanding €50 million to part ways with him.
What next?
AC Milan’s interest in Destiny Udogie was understandable. The Serie A giants have been scouring the market for a new left-back after parting ways with Theo Hernandez in the summer transfer window. The French international has joined Al-Hilal, compelling AC Milan to seek a long-term replacement. However, the Tottenham prospect will not join the Rossoneri, with Pervis Estupinan set to move to San Siro.
As for Manchester City, Josko Gvardiol has played as a left-back for several seasons. However, the Citizens have been keen on addressing the issue this summer, and Rayan Ait-Nouri has arrived from Wolverhampton Wanderers. So, Manchester City’s interest in Udogie has ended.
Tottenham’s asking price of €50 million was an issue for Udogie’s prospective suitors. However, the 22-year-old Italian international is now increasingly likely to remain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium beyond the summer transfer window.
