Everton will reportedly look to sign 24-year-old Japanese international Takefusa Kubo from La Liga club Real Sociedad in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Takefusa Kubo is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are eager to reinforce their offensive unit by signing a wide attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 24-year-old Real Sociedad winger has emerged as a target for the Merseyside outfit.
Meanwhile, La Real would prefer not to part ways with the Kawasaki native in the summer transfer window but would reluctantly demand around €40 million to part ways with him. As for Everton, the Toffees have approached Real Sociedad to discuss a possible summer move.
Takefusa Kubo and his career so far
Takefusa Kubo has endured a topsy-turvy ride since returning to Spain half a dozen years ago. The 24-year-old spent most of his formative years in his homeland, but he was also part of Barcelona’s fabled La Masia setup for some time. Kubo has been in Spain since July 2019 but could not establish a foothold in the first-team squad at Real Madrid.
Real Sociedad signed Kubo from Real Madrid nearly three years ago, and he has endured a topsy-turvy ride since then. The Japanese has turned out nearly 150 times thus far for Real Sociedad while chipping in with 23 goals and 18 assists. Meanwhile, the former Real Madrid winger’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe, including Everton.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Everton’s interest in Takefusa Kubo makes sense. The Toffees are scouring the market for a new wide attacker this summer after choosing not complete permanent moves for Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom. Several candidates, including Omari Hutchinson, have emerged on the Merseyside club’s radar.
However, Kubo has also emerged as a viable target for Everton this summer. The Toffees have initiated their move to sign the Asian attacker in the summer transfer window, contacting Real Sociedad and submitting an enquiry to La Real. However, the Basque outfit would prefer not to cash in on him in the summer transfer window.
Nevertheless, Real Sociedad will demand around €40 million to part ways with the 24-year-old Japanese international. La Real’s asking price makes him an appealing target for Everton, and the Toffees should have the funds to fork out €40 million to sign the former Real Madrid winger. It will be interesting to see if Kubo moves to England in the coming weeks.
