Manchester United have approached Royal Antwerp to explore the possibility of signing goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
Manchester United are on the lookout for a new shot-stopper as Ruben Amorim seeks more quality and competition in that position. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils are interested in Senne Lammens, and they have made initial contact to learn more about a potential transfer.
Lammens came up the ranks at Club Brugge. While he did make it to their first team, the 23-year-old shot-stopper could not break into their XI. As a result, he ended up joining Royal Antwerp in the summer of 2023 in search of a more prominent role.
The move has certainly worked out in his favour as he has been a regular feature in goal for them. He was involved in 44 matches last season and even kept 10 clean sheets. His performances have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs.
Manchester United are interested in Lammens’s signature
Manchester United are one of the clubs that have taken note of his impressive rise. The Red Devils are now looking to add him to their squad, as Amorim is not entirely pleased with Andre Onana’s performances.
The 29-year-old has not been consistent enough in goal. As a result, the Portuguese manager wants more competition in goal, and he believes Lammens could be a great investment for the long run.
While they have been linked with Aston Villa mainstay Emiliano Martínez, he is a very expensive option for the Manchester-based giants, who are struggling financially. As a result, Manchester United have knocked on Royal Antwerp’s door to gather more information about the conditions to sign the 23-year-old this summer.
If Manchester United decide to move for a new goalkeeper in the coming weeks, the Belgian sensation could become a priority target. While he still has two years remaining on his contract, Antwerp are likely to sanction his departure provided they secure a reasonable profit from the sale.
