Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle United eyeing Jacob Ramsey move

Arsenal unwilling to move for Callum Wilson.

Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing 24-year-old Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Jacob Ramsey. The English utility man is open to joining a UEFA Champions League club in the summer transfer window, with Aston Villa mulling over a possible sale due to the PSR benefits of his potential departure.

Jacob Ramsey and his Aston Villa story so far

Jacob Ramsey has endured a topsy-turvy ride since breaking into the first-team squad at Aston Villa. The Englishman made his senior bow for the West Midlands club as a 17-year-old in February 2019. However, he had to bide his time until the 2020/21 season to enjoy his breakthrough at Villa Park, although he has been in and out of the starting lineup under Unai Emery.

The English utility man has turned out over 150 times thus far for Aston Villa while chipping in with 17 goals and 19 assists. Meanwhile, despite not being a regular starter for the Villans, Ramsey’s stock in the market is high, with several Premier League bigwigs, including Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur, vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

A man in demand

The 24-year-old has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long time. The continued interest makes sense, even though Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard have reinforced the North London club’s midfield unit. With Ramsey capable of playing on the left flank, he can be an alternative to Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United’s long-term interest in Jacob Ramsey is understandable. The Magpies have parted ways with Sean Longstaff, who has joined Leeds United this week. In addition, Joelinton’s long-term future at St. James’ Park is uncertain. So, the versatile Aston Villa utility man is an option worth considering for Newcastle United.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, Yves Bissouma faces an uncertain future at the North London club. The Malian international will likely depart from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer transfer window. So, the Lilywhites are pursuing several versatile midfielders, with Ramsey also a viable target.

Meanwhile, recent reports have claimed that Aston Villa will look to keep the 24-year-old English utility man at Villa Park beyond the summer transfer window. However, Graeme Bailey has suggested that the Villans are mulling over the possibility of parting ways with Ramsey due to the PSR benefits. As for the Englishman, joining a UEFA Champions League club appeals to him.
