Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur are all alert to the situation with Jacob Ramsey, as Aston Villa might cash in.
According to Give Me Sport, Aston Villa might consider cashing in on Jacob Ramsey, which would put a host of Premier League clubs on alert. Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle United are all keen on the Aston Villa homegrown star, and a £50 million price is being mooted.
Aston Villa have a few good talented stars in their ranks, and one of those is Jacob Ramsey. The academy graduate has been part of their journey from the EFL Championship when he made his senior debut for the club aged 17.
Now 23, Ramsey is improving steadily and benefitting from regular game time under Unai Emery this season. The injury to John McGinn has come to benefit the academy graduate, who is getting to play in the skipper’s position and has been part of a glowing period for Aston Villa in this campaign.
However, Villa are facing a dilemma with Ramsey’s future, as the report suggests they could even consider selling the star for around £50 million. Being a homegrown player improves the prospect of a big sale, and whatever Aston Villa make from his departure, they will treat the money received as pure profit.
Last summer, there were rumours that the Villans would involve Ramsey in a part-exchange deal with Tottenham for Giovani Lo Celso, although Emery will be thankful that the move never came to fruition. However, the main reason for their willingness to entertain a sale is his expiring contract in 2027, and while there is plenty of time left in it, they do not want to see his value depreciate.
Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham keen
Incidentally, Inter Milan are eying Ramsey as a replacement for Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the future, although the English midfielder has no reason to leave the Premier League. Aston Villa could have sold him in the summer, but they decided against it, although there are a host of sides eager to sign him, including Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham.
All three teams might fancy signing a player of the £50 million-rated Aston Villa prospect’s quality and may even show readiness to pay the sum. Tottenham and Newcastle United, in particular, might have done some groundwork in the summer, which may better aid their chances. However, should Ramsey be put on sale and Arsenal come in, the Gunners have a better recent pedigree to entice the player.
