Tottenham, West Ham United make move to sign Koni De Winter

Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing 23-year-old Belgian centre-back Koni De Winter from Serie A club Genoa this summer.

According to a report by i News, Koni De Winter is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a centre-back in the summer transfer window. So, the 23-year-old Genoa defender has emerged as a target for the North London outfit.

The Serie A club will demand around £22 million to part ways with the Antwerp native in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, a report by Gazetta dello Sport via Sport Witness has claimed that West Ham will look to sign De Winter, having sounded out his representatives over a possible move.

Koni De Winter and his rise in Serie A

Koni De Winter has established himself as one of the best young centre-backs in Serie A since joining Genoa from Juventus. The Antwerp native spent most of his formative years in Belgium but graduated from the youth division at Juventus. However, the 22-year-old could not establish a foothold in the first-team squad at Juventus and has risen in prominence during his spell with Genoa.

De Winter has turned out over 50 times across his loan and permanent spells with Il Grifone while chipping in with three goals and one assist. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

London calling?

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Koni De Winter is understandable. The Lilywhites are scouring the market for a centre-back this summer amid uncertainties surrounding Cristian Romero’s long-term future. So, while Kota Takai has arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the North London outfit may aim to sign another central defender, and they have established contact over a move for De Winter.

As for West Ham United, the Hammers are keen on signing a top-notch centre-back this summer after Jean-Clair Todibo and Konstantinos Mavropanos blew hot and cold in the 2024/25 season. So, De Winter is an option worth considering for West Ham, with the East London outfit sounding out a possible summer move for the Genoa defender.

Meanwhile, the Serie A outfit will demand around £22 million to part ways with the 23-year-old Belgian international. Meanwhile, Tottenham and West Ham will face stiff competition from Inter Milan for De Winter’s signature. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Antwerp native.
