Tottenham will reportedly compete with Fulham and West Ham United to sign 30-year-old Portuguese international Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich this summer.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Joao Palhinha is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a midfielder in the summer transfer window, and they have set their sights on the Bayern Munich midfielder. However, the 30-year-old is also a target for Fulham and West Ham United.
Joao Palhinha and his Bayern Munich misery
Joao Palhinha has hit a brick wall since joining Bayern Munich from Fulham last summer. Die Roten chased the Lisbon native for nearly a year before securing his services. However, the player has struggled to make his mark at the Bavarian club, having been in and out of the starting lineup throughout the 2024/25 season.
The 30-year-old has not even managed 1,000 minutes of game time across 25 appearances in all competitions thus far for Bayern Munich. However, Palhinha’s stock in the market remains high, with several Premier League clubs, including Fulham, West Ham United, and Tottenham Hotspur, vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
London return on the horizon?
Fulham will dip into the market for a midfielder this summer amid uncertainties surrounding Andreas Pereira’s long-term future. So, Palhinha has emerged as a viable target, with the West London club already submitting an enquiry over a summer move. The Bayern Munich outcast should have no trouble settling down at Fulham in the 2025/26 season.
Meanwhile, West Ham United’s interest in Joao Palhinha is understandable. The Hammers are scouring the market for a midfielder this summer after choosing not to complete a permanent move for Carlos Soler. In addition, Guido Rodriguez faces an uncertain future at the London Stadium. So, Palhinha is a viable target for West Ham.
As for Tottenham Hotspur, Yves Bissouma faces an uncertain future at the North London club amid his links with Juventus. So, the Lilywhites are eager to bolster their midfield unit in the summer transfer window, with Palhinha being an option worth considering.
Tottenham’s entry into the picture means Fulham and West Ham may face a tall order to land the 30-year-old Portuguese international, considering the North London outfit can offer UEFA Champions League football. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Bayern Munich midfielder.
