Nottingham Forest’s £25 million offer to sign Newcastle United and Tottenham target Yoane Wissa has been turned down by Brentford.
According to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Nottingham Forest are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit ahead of the 2025/26 season, and they have their eyes set on Yoane Wissa. The Tricky Trees recently submitted an offer worth £25 million for the DR Congo international, but it has been rejected by Brentford.
While it was a blow for Nuno Espirito Santo’s team, they have not given up just yet. The Premier League high-flyers remain in talks with the Bees and could return with another offer in the near future. Meanwhile, they could even face competition from the likes of Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Wissa has only gone from strength to strength since joining the Premier League outfit from FC Lorient back in 2021. The French-born attacker has established himself as a key figure in their team, and he contributed towards 25 goals (20 goals, 5 assists) in his 39 outings last season.
With Bryan Mbeumo likely to leave the club, Brentford are reluctant to sell Wissa. However, with the DR Congo international entering the final year of his contract, things certainly won’t be that straightforward. For now, the Bees are holding out on their £50 million price tag, and negotiations with them won’t be easy for any interested club.
Nottingham Forest to keep pushing for Wissa’s signature
Nottingham Forest are very keen on his signature as they want to reinforce their offensive unit on a priority basis. With Anthony Elanga joining Newcastle United and Morgan Gibbs-White making the move to Tottenham, Nuno Espirito Santo wants more quality in the final third.
The Premier League high-flyers are looking to reinvest the money raised to further bolster their squad. Wissa is firmly in their sights, and they did table an offer worth £25 million, but it wasn’t good enough. The Tricky Trees remain in talks over the 28-year-old striker, who is also on the wishlist of Newcastle United and Tottenham.
The Magpies are looking to add more depth in the final third and feel Wissa could be an ideal support for their main man, Alexander Isak. Meanwhile, Thomas Frank’s Spurs are also looking for a new striker, and the manager would love to reunite with the DR Congo international.
The North London club are firmly in conversation for his signature. While there is no shortage of interest in his signature, Brentford won’t let the £50 million-rated attacker go without a fight.
