Chelsea have decided to sit down with Tyrique George over a new deal ahead of the summer, as they want to tie him down for the long-term future.
According to Football Insider, Chelsea are eager to tie down Tyrique George to a new long-term deal and fend off interest from potential suitors for the young attacker. The 19-year-old has managed to find a breakthrough into Enzo Maresca’s first team plans, as the Blues are eager to keep him on board.
Tyrique George came to prominence last weekend when he scored the equalising goal against Fulham in a crunch game for Chelsea. The Blues were trailing their local rivals in the London Derby and that goal from the 19-year-old pushed them ahead to find a winner through Pedro Neto to collect all three points.
George signed a new deal with the club last season which now feels like a move designed to protect his value should Chelsea decide to sell him. However, his breakthrough into Enzo Maresca’s first team and now the Blues are eager to keep the 19-year-old for the long term future.
Chelsea are reportedly keen to sit down with him and his camp during the summer to figure out a new contract. He could be offered a similar deal like some of their other players seen as important for the team and the long-term future.
The other issue as per the report is the growing interest in George from some English sides as well as those from abroad. The 19-year-old’s current agreement lasts until 2027, which puts Chelsea in a position where other clubs could come in with offers to test their resolve, which is the big reason why they want a longer stay for the young attacker.
Chelsea planning on young additions to their team
Chelsea are eager to keep hold of their emerging stars, but they are already looking into the market for new additions that fit their requirements. The Blues are ahead of rivals in the race of Dean Huijsen and face a big task to convince the attacker, as they are in a similar position with the chase of Liam Delap.
Chelsea are also interested in Kenan Yildiz from Juventus, with the Turkish international attracting big attention from some of the top clubs ahead of the summer. Overall, the Blues are intent on bringing in these sorts of names, as well as keeping hold of talents like George in the mix.
