Chelsea prepared to pay €30 million to sign Nico Paz

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea are reportedly ready to fork out €30 million to sign Tottenham and Real Madrid target Nico Paz.

According to a report from Fichajes, Chelsea are keen on acquiring the services of Nico Paz, and they are willing to push hard to bring him to Stamford Bridge this season. While Tottenham and Real Madrid could prove to be major obstacles, the Blues are ready to make a significant financial investment to get the deal over the line.

Nico Paz was a part of the Real Madrid setup for around eight years. While the Tenerife-born midfielder did go up the ranks at some pace, he was not likely to get much game time at the Spanish capital. As a result, Los Blancos sanctioned his departure last summer.

The youngster ended up joining Como, and he has gone on to do wonders for the Serie A club. The player has been involved in a total of 30 league games, and he has contributed towards 13 goals (6 goals, 7 assists). While the majority of his appearances have come as a number ten, he has even chipped in as a striker and in a deeper role in midfield when needed.

The Argentine attacking midfielder has shown maturity beyond his age, and his impressive performances have put him on the radar of Chelsea, who are constantly on the lookout for players with massive potential.

The Blues believe the 20-year-old could be a great addition to their squad both for the short as well as the long run. He can add much-needed creativity to Enzo Maresca’s team. However, the London club won’t find it easy to sign him, as rivals Tottenham and Spanish giants Real Madrid could pose significant challenges.

Chelsea could face competition for Nico Paz

The North London club seek more quality in the centre of the park. They see the Argentine international as someone who can challenge James Maddison for a place in the starting XI. But, in London, it is believed that the Blues are much better positioned financially to present a better offer and get their hands on the Argentine international.

As far as Los Blancos are concerned, they have a buy-back clause worth less than €10 million. The team in white do need more quality in the centre of the park, and they could decide to call Nico Paz back. Even if they do not have the 20-year-old in their first-team plans, they could trigger that option and then sell him to the Blues, who at this point are ready to table an offer worth €30 million for the youngster.
