Manchester City eyeing mega move for Pedri

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are considering breaking the bank to sign Barcelona midfield mainstay Pedri this summer.

According to a report from Fichajes, Manchester City are interested in acquiring the services of Pedri and they are willing to table a massive €200 million to sign the Barcelona midfield star. Pep Guardiola is looking to freshen up his midfield and would relish the opportunity to work with a player of Pedri’s calibre.

The Spanish international made a name for himself while playing for UD Las Palmas. Barcelona were quick to identify his talent and they ended up signing the 22-year-old back in 2019. He eventually made the move to the Catalan giants in the summer of 2020 and has been a part of their first team since the start.

Pedri has shown maturity beyond his age and has been an integral part of their first team over the last few seasons. He has featured in close to 200 games for them and has contributed towards 45 goals.

He prefers playing as a central midfielder but can even feature as a number ten if needed. The 22-year-old is exceptional with the ball at his feet, capable of controlling the tempo of the game and showcasing outstanding vision. In short, he possesses all the attributes required to be regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world.

City are ready to go all out for Pedri

Pedri is on the wishlist of Manchester City, who want to reinforce their squad after a disappointing campaign. Florian Wirtz has been at the top of their wishlist since the start but they might not be able to win the race for the signature of the Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder.

He seems to be closing in on a move to Bayern Munich, as a result, City have started looking at other alternatives to bolster their squad. They are looking at Pedri as an ideal fit for their system and project. They feel he could help them continue their dominance.

The Premier League giants are willing to put forward a record break €200 million bid for the Barcelona superstar. But it is unlikely to work in their favour despite the Catalan giants’ financial struggles as they consider Pedri an untouchable figure in the team.

He is a crucial part of both their present and future plans. While City are prepared to break the bank for him, Barcelona have no intention of selling and the player himself has shown no desire to leave the Spanish giants.
