Manchester United have reportedly made initial contact for Patrik Schick ahead of a potential move in the summer as they continue searching for a new No.9.
According to Patrick Berger, Manchester United have initiated contact for Patrick Schick ahead of exploring a summer move for the striker. Bayer Leverkusen are open to selling him for around €25-30 million, as the Red Devils could potentially consider him as a cheaper alternative to some of the other expensive targets they have on their list.
Manchester United are expected to make a few key additions to their squad in the summer. One of those could be a new striker as Ruben Amorim is not entirely satisfied with the output of either Rasmus Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee, and one of those could be moved on in the summer.
While they are not leaning towards selling Hojlund, there’s a situation where they could offload him if the price is right. The Dane has had a terrible season on all fronts, and he could be the one making way for a new striker as Zirkzee has been utilised differently under Amorim.
In any case, Manchester United are on the trails of a new No.9, with some high-profile names like Victor Osimhen being linked. The Nigerian will be expensive as well as demanding huge wages if he was to make the move to Old Trafford. Dusan Vlahovic is another name on their list, as he too will cost a lot of money alongside a massive salary outlay.
Patrik Schick has emerged on their list, with the Bayer Leverkusen star once again proving his prowess in front of goal. The Czech Republic star is 29, something Manchester United are wary of as they had initially planned on signing a much younger striker, although his potential availability for around €25-30 million could pique their interest in the striker.
Manchester United initiates talks for Patrik Schick
Manchester United have reportedly opened initial talk for Schick, and while there are no concrete inroads made for the €25-30 million-rated Bundesliga striker, there’s a possibility of making a move. As per Patrick Berger, the Leverkusen star reportedly prefers a Premier League move and not leaning towards joining one of the Saudi Arabian sides in the summer.
Whether Schick will be suited for Manchester United remains the question, although he has excelled under Xabi Alonso in a system similar to that of Amorim. Either way, the idea of signing the €25-30 million-rated Bundesliga striker could benefit the Red Devils in the short to medium term despite his age being on the higher side than they would have wanted.
