Real Madrid eyeing Alexis Mac Allister swoop, player’s father makes comment on future

Real Madrid have set sights on Alexis Mac Allister ahead of the summer as they continue the search for a top midfielder, with the player’s father commenting on his future.

According to Marca, Real Madrid are linked with a move for Alexis Mac Allister ahead of the summer. The Liverpool midfielder is settled at the club as per some of the comments made by his father, although the Spanish giants knocking on the door could be trouble for the Merseysiders.

Alexis Mac Allister has been sensational since arriving at Liverpool in the summer of 2023. This season, he has been instrumental in Arne Slot’s run towards the title, as the Merseysiders’ win over West Ham took them closer to the Premier League title.

Liverpool and Arne Slot are eager to keep hold of their best performers for years to come and Mac Allister is a big part of that list. However, some reports are pointing towards Real Madrid’s interest in the 26-year-old Liverpool mainstay, which would trouble the fanbase.

The same fanbase are already stressed about the fact that Trent Alexander-Arnold is about to join Real Madrid on a free transfer, and they will be disgruntled at the prospect of seeing Mac Allister follow suit. However, the Argentine midfielder’s father made some comments pointing towards a potential stay at Liverpool for the time being.

Carlos Mac Allister said, “For now, I don’t think he’ll leave Liverpool. Time will tell. Alexis is very happy where he is. He lives in Manchester, and on the same block as him is Robertson Gómez, and four blocks away is Licha (Lisandro) Martínez. Alexis speaks English well, understands the rules of the game, and talks to people. I think it’s been the best thing that’s happened to him, and that’s why the adaptation was easier.”

Real Madrid could yet knock on Liverpool’s door to explore the idea of signing the 26-year-old in the summer. At that point, there’s a big possibility, as it is generally the case that the player might be tempted with the prospect of switching over to the Spanish capital, which could scupper Liverpool’s plans for next season.

Real Madrid keen to sign a new midfielder

Real Madrid does hold an interest in Mac Allister, although he’s not alone on their list of targets as compatriot Enzo Fernandez is also linked with a move. Florentino Perez is eager to bring a big-money signing in the summer, as the central midfield position looks like the most obvious. There are other names like Bernardo Silva on their list as well as Exequiel Palacios among others.

Credible reporting from Spain also pointed towards a serious interest in Martin Zubimendi, although the Real Sociedad star is likely to join Arsenal in the summer. Either way, Real Madrid will look to bring a big midfield name in the close season, as Liverpool fans will be hoping and praying it’s not Mac Allister.
