Premier League giants Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool scout African sensations Mohamed Sako and Asharaf Loukman Tapsoba.
Scouts from some of the biggest clubs in Europe have travelled to Morocco to watch young prospects in action during the ongoing Under-17 African Cup of Nations. Burkina Faso have delivered some remarkable performances to reach the semi-finals, with several players from their squad now drawing significant interest. Premier League giants are reportedly keen on securing two of their standout stars, Mohamed Sako and Asharaf Loukman Tapsoba.
According to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Mohamed Sako and Asharaf Loukman Tapsoba have managed to impress scouts from Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool. The two African teenagers have been in sensational form in the ongoing tournament, and scouts from all three Premier League clubs have glowing reports about them.
Not just English clubs but several top teams from across Europe have also become admirers of the duo and could look to make a move for them in the near future. Sako is a 16-year-old midfielder who has been playing in a defensive role for Burkina Faso in the ongoing African Cup of Nations.
He has been exceptional for them and is often compared to Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba because of the way he influences games from midfield. He is currently playing in his homeland for Basga Jo Academy. But given the kind of performances he has put in of late, it won’t be a surprise if he ends up joining a big club in Europe.
Meanwhile, Tapsoba has been on fire in the Under-17 tournament. The young striker, who turned 15 last month, scored a hat-trick against Zambia in the quarter-final, and he is the top scorer of the tournament with seven goals to his name. He has played a big part in his country making it to the last four.
Burkina Faso duo to move to the Premier League?
Tapsoba has been likened to Napoli ace and the in-demand Victor Osimhen, as the two share a similar playing style. Top clubs are aware of his potential and could make a move to sign him this summer. Chelsea’s project revolves around signing the best young talents, and it won’t be much of a surprise if they do go after the duo’s signature.
While Arsenal will target a world-class striker in the summer, they won’t mind having Tapsoba in their ranks as he could be a great addition in the long run. Sako could also add much-needed depth to their midfield.
Tying Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah to a new deal was a massive win for the Reds, but they also need to add some young players to the mix to ensure a smoother transition in the future. While Mohamed Sako and Asharaf Loukman Tapsoba might not be ready to be a part of the first team just yet, they certainly have the potential to be special players.
