Manchester City will reportedly look to sign Tijjani Reijnders and Theo Hernandez from Serie A giants AC Milan in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Tijjani Reijnders and Theo Hernandez are the subjects of interest from Manchester City. The Premier League champions are keen on signing a left-back and a creative midfielder in the summer transfer window. So, the AC Milan duo has emerged on the Citizens’ wishlist, and they will soon initiate the discussions to secure their services in the coming months.
Theo Hernandez and Tijjani Reijnders: Top performers for AC Milan
Theo Hernandez and Tijjani Reijnders have been pivotal figures for AC Milan throughout their stints with the Serie A giants. The former has been with the Rossoneri for much longer, arriving from Real Madrid in July 2019. The Frenchman has gone from strength to strength in the last half a dozen years, establishing himself as one of the best full-backs in the world.
The 27-year-old has also been in decent touch this term, amassing five goals and six assists in 43 appearances across all competitions. However, Hernandez faces an uncertain future at San Siro after entering the final 18 months of his contract. On the other hand, Reijnders joined AC Milan from AZ Alkmaar in July 2023 and has come leaps and bounds in the last two years.
The Dutchman hit the ground running at San Siro and has become a pivotal figure for the Serie A giants this term. Reijnders has an exceptional tally of 14 goals and four assists in 46 appearances across all competitions. The duo’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, with Manchester City among the prospective suitors vying for their signatures heading into the summer transfer window.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Theo Hernandez has been on Manchester City’s radar for a long time. Pep Guardiola has operated without a left-back for several seasons, with Josko Gvardiol being a revelation in the position despite primarily being a centre-back. So, the Premier League champions want a new left-back in the summer transfer window, with Hernandez emerging as a viable target.
As for Tijjani Reijnders, the Dutch midfielder can be Kevin De Bruyne’s long-term successor at the Etihad. The Belgian international will end his long association with the Premier League champions after the 2024/25 season ends. So, Manchester City must sign a central attacking midfielder, with the AC Milan star an option worth considering.
The AC Milan duo will cost around €100 million, with the Serie A giants valuing Hernandez at €30 million and Reijnders at €70 million. Manchester City should have the funds to afford a double deal worth around €100 million. So, it will not be surprising to see the AC Milan pair arriving at the Etihad in the summer transfer window.
