Newcastle United will reportedly look to seal a Bosman move for 28-year-old Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Football Insider, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. The Magpies are scouring the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window as they prepare to lose Callum Wilson as a free agent. So, the 28-year-old Everton centre-forward has emerged as a target, with the Tyneside club contacting his entourage.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and his Everton struggles
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has endured a horrific stint with Everton since arriving from Sheffield United in August 2016. While the Englishman has enjoyed memorable phases in the last nine years, fitness issues have stunted his progress for most of his stint with the Merseyside outfit.
Injuries have ruined Calvert-Lewin’s campaign in the 2024/25 season, as a hamstring injury has left him on the sidelines since February. The 28-year-old has managed only 1,582 minutes of game time across 22 appearances in all competitions while chipping in with three goals and two assists.
Meanwhile, the English striker will leave Everton as a free agent after entering the final few months of his contract. Calvert-Lewin’s stock in the market remains high despite his fitness issues. Newcastle United will aim to beat the competition to his signature heading into the summer transfer window.
Bosman move across the Premier League on the cards?
Newcastle United mulled over signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin last summer before the deal failed to see the light of day. The continued interest in the Everton striker makes sense, considering Callum Wilson will depart from St. James’ Park as a free agent when his contract expires in a few months.
So, several strikers, including Vangelis Pavlidis, have emerged on Newcastle United’s radar, with Calvert-Lewin also a viable target. The Magpies have initiated their move to sign the 28-year-old Englishman, contacting his representative over a possible Bosman deal in the summer transfer window.
With Calvert-Lewin ready to embark on a new adventure in the summer transfer window, a move across the Premier League might be on the cards. It will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the 11-cap English international amid his links with Newcastle United.
