Manchester United in talks with Napoli over Victor Osimhen deal

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United have held talks with Napoli as they look to sign Victor Osimhen this summer.

According to Tuttosport via SportWitness, Manchester United are in talks to sign Victor Osimhen. Ruben Amorim is keen on adding more firepower to his attack, and the Nigerian striker is considered an ideal fit for his system and their project.

Osimhen was one of the first names on Napoli’s team sheet a few years back, and he even played a key role in ending their three-decade-long wait for the Serie A title. However, relations between the player and the club deteriorated significantly towards the end of last season.

He was keen on securing a permanent move away, but things didn’t go according to plan. Eventually, he ended up joining Galatasaray on a straightforward season-long loan deal. The Nigerian international is enjoying life in Turkiye, having contributed towards 34 goals in his 32 outings.

His consistent performances have ensured that interest in his services remains intact. Although he is set to return to Napoli this summer, his departure is all but confirmed. He will be available for around €70 million, a fee both parties agreed upon before his loan move to Galatasaray.

United are making moves to sign Osimhen

Osimhen prefers making the move to the Premier League, where Manchester United are one of the clubs that are keen on signing him. Amorim is not happy with the output of his current strikers and wants to bring in a proven goal scorer to lead his line next season.

The Nigerian international has all the skillsets the Portuguese boss is looking for, and United have already started making moves to sign him. They are in talks with the Naples-based club’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, regarding a move this summer.

The report suggests that Manchester United could include Rasmus Hojlund as part of the deal to help reduce the overall financial outlay. It could be an appealing option for Napoli, as they would be getting a 22-year-old striker with prior Serie A experience.

United have a strong bond with Manna thanks to successful negotiations with took place during Scott McTominay’s move to Napoli and recent talks regarding Alejandro Garnacho moving to the Naples-based club. It could help the Red Devils sign the 26-year-old, who is looking for a deal worth €10 million per season after tax.

There are other clubs who are interested in his signature. As a result, the Premier League giants will certainly not find that easy to secure his services.
