Manchester City have to pay around £50 million to sign Hugo Larsson from Eintracht Frankfurt this summer, as Pep Guardiola seeks a young midfielder.
According to Football Insider, Manchester City have been quoted a price tag close to £50 million if they wish to sign top midfield talent Hugo Larsson. The Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder is expected to leave the Bundesliga side in the close season, with Pep Guardiola eager to sign the Swede.
Manchester City are expected to continue their work on the squad in the summer, as there are many changes expected in the off-season. For starters, Kevin De Bruyne has already announced his departure after the season ends, while Ilkay Gundogan is also expected to depart alongside the Belgian.
Pep Guardiola has tried to sign a top-notch midfielder in a lower-age profile for quite some time, with some names prominently mentioned in reports. Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton is a target with the club scouts regularly watching him in action, although the price tag on the English midfielder is expected to be very high.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Larsson is another name prominent on their list, with Manchester City eager to initiate talks with the German side. They recently did business together for the transfer of Omar Marmoush, and that could play a big role should the two parties negotiate for the highly-rated Bundesliga midfielder.
Frankfurt had asked for around £50 million for Larsson earlier, and are set to stick with their valuation for the Sweden International. Manchester City certainly can pay as much for the highly-rated Bundesliga midfielder, although it remains to be seen if they too value Larsson at a similar price.
Hugo Larsson likely to leave Eintracht Frankfurt
Larsson does not have a shortage of interest, with a host of clubs from the Premier League and elsewhere keeping close tabs on the midfielder. Manchester City are thought to be closer than anyone in the race and could put forward a compelling pitch for the Swede to join them in the summer. Guardiola had wanted a young midfielder for quite a while now and might view Larsson as someone to fit into his team.
Guardiola and Manchester City feel Larsson has what it takes to adapt to the Premier League in a swift manner much like Marmoush. Frankfurt are eager to make it to the Champions League next season, and they will probably end up selling some of their key stars like Larsson and Hugo Ekitike to find new moves to improve their squad.
