Manchester City eyeing Dani Olmo as Kevin De Bruyne replacement

Manchester City have identified Dani Olmo as a potential option to replace the departing Kevin De Bruyne in the summer transfer window.

According to Fichajes, Dani Olmo could have emerged as a big option for Manchester City as Pep Guardiola could view him as a potential replacement for Kevin De Bruyne. The Citizens have to plan for life after the Belgian playmaker, with the Barcelona star now a firm target for the Catalan manager.

Barcelona signed Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig last summer although the signing has not gone too well due to many of their off-field financial problems. There was the issue of registering the playmaker back in the summer, which surfaced again in January, with the Catalan giants having to pull some of their levers to ensure he could play.

The Spanish authorities have raised the issue again, which could lead to further issues around the summer with the player’s registration. If there is a possibility of an exit from Barcelona, Manchester City are alert to the situation as Pep Guardiola views him as a potential replacement for the outgoing Kevin De Bruyne.

Manchester City are set to deal with the issue of replacing the Belgian playmaker, which will be an extremely difficult task for what he brought to the table. There are some options discussed, as Manchester City are heavily linked with Florian Wirtz among other names in the market.

There is a distinct possibility of Wirtz choosing Bayern Munich as his next destination, which will be a big blow for Manchester City and Guardiola. Hence, they have alternatives in mind, although their idea behind the chase of Olmo does not stem because of the potential situation with Wirtz, as Guardiola has admired the playmaker for a long time now due to his exploits in the Bundesliga.

Will Manchester City sign Dani Olmo?

Barcelona could be reportedly tempted to sell if a suitor can put £50 million on the table for Olmo, and Manchester City could be willing to pay what is necessary. The £50 million playmaker does offer a whole lot of tactical options for a coach like Guardiola, as Olmo can feature as a playmaker or even as a winger.

With the ongoing issues at Barcelona likely to surface, it could make the player think of joining a more stable environment, with Manchester City certainly able to offer that. Hence, there is a big possibility of the £50 million playmaker joining the current Premier League champions in the summer, and Dani Olmo could be a good enough replacement for the outgoing De Bruyne.
