Liverpool, Tottenham run rule over Liam Delap

Liverpool and Tottenham are reportedly closely monitoring Chelsea target Liam Delap ahead of a potential move this summer.

According to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Liverpool and Tottenham have recently scouted Liam Delap as they weigh up a summer move. Both clubs are keen on reinforcing their attack, and they consider the English youth international an ideal fit for their system.

Delap came up the ranks at Manchester City. He ended up parting ways with the Premier League giants in the summer in search of a more prominent role. The 22-year-old made the move to Ipswich last summer, and he has only gone from strength to strength since.

The Englishman has featured in a total of 30 league games, and he has contributed towards 14 goals (12 goals, 2 assists). His performances have not gone unnoticed, and clubs are gearing up to make a move for him. While Ipswich Town won’t want to part ways with the 22-year-old, they might not have too many options to play with, given their current position in the Premier League.

Kieran McKenna’s side are 18th on the table, 12 points adrift from safety. A return to the Championship looks certain, and it could lead to the departure of Liam Delap. Chelsea are one of the clubs that are keen on signing him. The Blues want to bring in a new striker who can support Nicolas Jackson up top, and the Ipswich Town star is one of the names on their wishlist.

Liverpool and Tottenham scouted Delap

Chelsea could face significant competition from rivals Liverpool and Tottenham, who recently scouted the 22-year-old. Scouts from the Reds and Spurs were in the stands at Portman Road on Saturday to watch Liam Delap in action against Wolves.

The former Manchester City attacking prospect certainly impressed those in the stands as he bagged a goal early in the first half. However, unfortunately, it was not enough to help them secure all three points. Both clubs have a concrete interest in him, and it will be interesting to see who ends up making a move in the summer.

Spurs want more firepower in the final third, as Dominic Solanke has not lived up to expectations. Delap could challenge his compatriot for a place in the starting lineup. Meanwhile, Liverpool are all set to part ways with Darwin Nunez, and they are looking at the 22-year-old as an ideal long-term replacement.
