Enzo Fernandez keen on La Liga move amid Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid links

Enzo Fernandez might be open to the idea of playing in Spain with Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid interested in the Chelsea midfielder.

According to TBR, Enzo Fernandez could be open to making a move to La Liga to play for one of Atletico Madrid or Real Madrid, with the Spanish capital giants interested in the Argentine. Intermediaries are trying to broker a deal in the background, although Chelsea, at this point are not interested in considering a sale of the midfielder.

Enzo Fernandez’s future has been an ongoing topic of discussion in media reports over the last few weeks, with some big links to the Spanish sides Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid. The Argentine World Cup winner is not particularly seen as a top player for now, despite moving to Chelsea in a deal reported to be around £105 million at the time.

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has used him in different roles from a deep-lying midfielder to an attacking No.10, as the Italian is yet to fixate on a sure role for the Argentine. The fact that there are big links to one of the Spanish capital giants shows that the midfielder’s camp might have had some dialogue in the background.

The report states that intermediaries are in talks with Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid to gauge their interest in the 24-year-old Chelsea mainstay. The story also states that Fernandez might be open to the idea of playing in La Liga for one of those clubs, as Atletico are reportedly prioritising a move for the midfielder.

Real Madrid did rule out a move for the midfielder although they could be back in the mix if the conditions end up suiting their ideas on price and role for the Argentine. However, Atletico are seen as the more viable contender in the race, as another report also mentioned a possible offer of cash plus a player in exchange for Fernandez.

Chelsea’s decision key to Enzo Fernandez’s future

While the story revolves around how intermediaries are working to get a deal done for the midfielder, Chelsea are not considering a sale at this point. The Argentine has a contract until 2032, which has given them huge power in negotiations, and will keep the player if they feel he’s untouchable.

However, Chelsea might be open to a sale for the right price, with some reports in the past claiming they will demand close to or more than what they paid to sign him. For now, Fernandez is expected to stay put at Stamford Bridge, unless he explicitly expresses a desire to quit for a move to one of Atletico Madrid or Real Madrid in the summer.
