Tottenham eyeing Antoine Semenyo as Son Heung-min replacement

Tottenham are looking to sign Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo as a potential successor to Son Heung-min.

Tottenham have already started planning for life without Son Heung-min, who has been one of their mainstays in attack over the years. They want to bring in someone who can help replace him in the long run, and according to a report from Fichajes, Spurs are interested in acquiring the services of Antoine Semenyo, who has been doing wonders for Bournemouth in the English top flight.

Semenyo joined the Cherries at the start of 2023 after making a name for himself at Bristol City. The 25-year-old has only gone from strength to strength over the last two seasons. On the back of his performances, he penned a new five-year deal last summer.

The Ghanaian international seems to have taken his game to the next level in the ongoing campaign. He has featured in a total of 32 games and has contributed towards 15 goals. While the majority of his appearances have come on the right flank, he can pretty much feature anywhere in the attack.

Semenyo could replace Son at Spurs

His performances have put him on the radar of Tottenham, who are in desperate need of some attacking reinforcement. Spurs will undergo significant changes in the summer after a disappointing campaign. While they aim to strengthen their squad overall, Ange Postecoglou’s side will prioritise signing a right-footed winger amidst uncertainty around the future of their skipper.

Son Heung-min has been one of the leaders of Spurs’ attack for almost a decade now, but soon they might have to cope with his absence. While the club haven’t been at their best, the 32-year-old has still been one of their standout performers with 23 goal contributions.

But he could end up leaving this summer. While his contract runs out in the summer of 2026, Son could push for a move away this summer. The North London club wants to be prepared for a situation where their skipper ends up leaving them.

They started to look for players who could help cope with his absence, and Semenyo’s name is quite high on their wishlist. His ability to take on defenders and his versatility are highly valued by people at Tottenham. He has decent experience playing in the Premier League, and his potential suggests he could help them in the long run. More importantly, he could be a budget-friendly option for the North London club.
