Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea are ready to fork out €30 million to acquire the services of Sevilla defensive mainstay Loic Bade.
Chelsea have started to prepare for the upcoming summer transfer market. They want to add more quality to their squad to ensure Enzo Maresca has everything he needs to take the club to the next level.
The Blues will prioritise reinforcing their backline, and according to a report from Fichajes, they have their eyes set on Sevilla’s Loic Bade. Maresca’s team are ready to invest €30 million to bring the French centre-back to Stamford Bridge.
Bade has only gone from strength to strength since joining Sevilla at the start of 2023. While it was an initial loan deal, the move was made permanent the following summer. Not only has he been a key figure at the Spanish club, but he was also sensational for the French team that finished second in the 2024 Olympics.
His consistent performances have put him on the radar of quite a few top clubs from across Europe. But Chelsea are believed to be the most determined team to make the final move and sign him ahead of next season.
Chelsea to push for the signature of Bade
The Blues have done a decent job in Maresca’s first season in charge, but the Italian has identified a few key areas that need reinforcement. He seeks more depth and quality at the back.
Bade is one of the names on their wishlist. He is only 24 and is considered an ideal fit for their project. They are ready to table an offer worth €30 million to sign him this summer. Apart from the financial side of things, the Blues could also include players like Trevoh Chalobah or Mykhaylo Mudryk in a potential deal for the 24-year-old.
Meanwhile, Sevilla don’t really want to part ways with the French defender. They have him protected with a €60 million release clause and a contract that runs until the summer of 2029. While they are in a strong position because of his contract situation, their financial difficulties will force them to listen to decent offers for Bade.
Although the Spanish club is under pressure, which could open the door for Chelsea, they may still face competition from Aston Villa and Liverpool, who have also been linked with the 24-year-old.
Villa enquired about him in the winter and could return for him in the summer. As far as the Reds are concerned, they are looking for someone who can replace Virgil van Dijk and the Sevilla centre-back could help their cause.
