Panathinaikos will demand around €10 million to part ways with 23-year-old Greek defensive prospect Georgios Vagiannidis in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Portuguese outlet A Bola, Georgios Vagiannidis is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Panathinaikos defensive prospect is also a target for Ajax and Botafogo, while Sporting CP recently failed with a bid to secure his services. Meanwhile, the Greek Super League outfit will demand around €10 million to part ways with the 23-year-old right-back.
Who is Georgios Vagiannidis?
Georgios Vagiannidis is the latest highly-rated prospect to rise in prominence in his homeland. Greece has witnessed the advent of several promising prodigies, with Konstantinos Koulierakis, Konstantinos Karetsas, and Christos Tzolis capturing the attention of several highly-rated clubs across Europe.
As for Vagiannidis, the youngster has found a stable footing since returning to Panathinaikos from Inter Milan in September 2021. The 23-year-old has turned out nearly 100 times thus far for the Super League giants while chipping in with three goals and three assists.
Meanwhile, Vagiannidis has broken into his national squad due to his exploits for Panathinaikos, making four appearances for Greece. In addition, the Greek defensive prospect’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Fulham will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.
Premier League adventure on the horizon?
Fulham’s interest in Georgios Vagiannidis makes sense. The Cottagers are combing the market for a right-back heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Kenny Tete’s long-term future. The Dutch defender has spent several weeks on the sidelines due to a long-term injury. In addition, he has entered the final six months of his contract with Fulham.
Timothy Castagne is the only other recognised right-back in Marco Silva’s squad. So, Fulham can do with a new option for the position, making Vagiannidis a viable target for the West London outfit. The Cottagers now know how much Panathinaikos will demand to part ways with the highly-rated right-back, with the Greek Super League outfit slapping a price of €10 million on him.
However, Fulham will face stiff competition from Ajax and Botafogo for the 23-year-old Greek defensive prospect. In addition, Sporting CP recently failed with a bid to sign the youngster. So, it will be interesting to see if Fulham can beat the competition to the €10 million-rated right-back’s signature.
