AC Milan are reportedly keen to bring Andre Onana back to Italy as the 28-year-old under-fire Manchester United mainstay could leave the club.
According to Spazio Milan, Andre Onana has emerged as a big target for AC Milan ahead of the summer, with the club looking beyond Mike Maignan. Manchester United might open the doors to a sale should they get the required price for the Cameroonian, who has come under fire on more than one occasion.
Andre Onana has been a decent signing for Manchester United, although his usage has sparked debate on whether the Cameroonian is the right fit for the long-term future. ONana has had some difficult moments between the sticks despite standing out for his ability with the feet and how he operates with the ball.
Manchester United could potentially sell Onana in the summer, as Amorim would like to bring a keeper that suits his style better. Whether that will suit the club’s pockets remains to be seen as there are some costly as well as modest options being considered, with Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens as well as Real Madrid’s Andriy Lunin present on their list.
AC Milan’s Mike Maignan is someone they are keen on, with the Frenchman likely to fall under the top-notch category when it comes to pricing. Incidentally, the Rossoneri are eager to bring Onana as a replacement for Maignan in the summer, which could see the Cameroonian return to familiar territory given he spent a short but successful period with rivals Inter Milan before his switch to Manchester United.
Milan are making some changes in the background after an underwhelming season, with former Spurs man Fabio Paratici the favourite to take over as their new sporting director. As for the Onana chase, the only possible way to pay whatever Manchester United asks might come along the lines of Maignan’s sale, as this could be a transfer story to bank upon.
Are Manchester United considering Andre Onana’s sale
The ideal situation for Manchester United in the current climate would be to bring a replacement keeper for the underwhelming Altay Biyandir. With that, Amorim could potentially allow two stoppers to fight for one place, as currently, Onana has no real rivals for the No.1 spot.
Should the new keeper find a way to oust the 28-year-old under-fire Manchester United mainstay, it could result in a loss of valuation on the Cameroonian. Should the Red Devils get a large enough offer that makes financial sense, they could sell Onana, although Amorim needs to find the right replacement that suits his way of playing.
