Tottenham want €50 million to part ways with their Swedish attacking sensation Dejan Kulusevski amidst interest from AC Milan.
According to a report from Italian outlet Calciomercato, Tottenham might find it very difficult to hold on to Dejan Kulusevski if they fail to secure European football for next season. While they may come under pressure to sell amid interest from AC Milan, Spurs will still demand a fee of around €50 million.
It has been a horror campaign for Ange Postecoglou’s team as they find themselves 14th on the points table. The only positive for them has been the performances of Kulusevski. The Swedish international has been involved in a total of 42 games, and he has contributed towards 20 goals (10 goals, 10 assists).
While Kulusevski is an integral part of the Australian manager’s plans moving ahead, his future has become a massive talking point despite his contract running until the summer of 2028. If they fail to secure European football for next season, the 24-year-old could end up pushing for a move away.
Finishing in a European spot in the league is very difficult with just nine games to go. The only way out is to win the Europa League. Qualifying for the Champions League could be a massive boost after such a difficult campaign, as it will allow them to bolster their squad and help convince Dejan Kulusevski to continue at the club.
Multiple clubs have already had already registered their interest in the former Juventus star during the last winter window. While Spurs did manage to hold onto the Swede back then, they will struggle to do the same in the summer.
Kulusevski could secure a return to Italy
AC Milan have emerged as a potential destination for the 24-year-old who can feature as a number ten, a right winger, as well as in a deeper role in midfield. The Rossoneri had considered making a move for Dejan Kulusevski last summer, and they are all set to return for him ahead of next season.
The Italian giants seem to have already contacted his agents to discuss a potential transfer. While Spurs won’t really want to sell, the report suggests they could sit on the negotiation table if an offer of around €50 million arrives.
Having invested €33 million to sign him back in the day, they would like to at least register a profit on him if they are forced to sell. Even if they fail to qualify for the Champions League and the player pushes for an exit, Tottenham will still have a firm stance in negotiations as there is still enough time left on his deal.
