Tottenham are eying a surprise move for recently arrived Aston Villa attacker Donyell Malen with the north Londoners looking for attacking additions.
According to a report on Fichajes, Tottenham are ready to raid Aston Villa in a surprise move for January signing Donyell Malen. The Dutch attacker is yet to find his ground at Villa Park, although Spurs might look for a way to sign him as they have had interest in the attacker before his move to Unai Emery’s side.
It’s not been long since Donyell Malen’s arrival on English soil, as Aston Villa agreed a deal with Borussia Dortmund in January to sign the attacker. In the seven games he has played under Unai Emery, the Dutchman is yet to open his account for his new side, as it does take time for foreign players to settle in and adapt to their new surroundings.
Aston Villa reportedly paid around €25 million or slightly more for Malen, and while there have been no suggestions from the club about a swift sale, things might change in the summer. Tottenham are the surprise suitors for the €25 million attacker ahead of the summer, as Ange Postecoglou eyes some key attacking talents in the close season.
There will be questions about this particular link, as Aston Villa might not want to sell the player who only arrived a few months back. Director Monchi might have a different opinion on this, and should Spurs come up with a good enough offer, Malen could be potentially sold off for a quick profit on Aston Villa’s investment.
The idea of Malen to Tottenham might spur from the idea of the Dutchman capable of playing multiple positions in the attacking third. He does operate mainly off the wings, although this is a player who can play in the false-nine role, as his versatility might be something Ange Postecoglou needs in the squad.
Tottenham angling for attacking signings
Not only are Tottenham looking for goalscoring front three players, but they are also angling for an attacking midfielder ahead of the summer. Enzo Millot is one name they are keen on, while the likes of Angel Gomes and Tyler Dibling are also mentioned.
As for the other positions in the front three, there are links to Marcus Thuram, while Jonathan David is another player on their agenda. In the Malen case, Spurs could potentially see an opportunity to sign the €25 million attacker should Aston Villa decide on a sale if it makes them a healthy profit on their investment.
