Liverpool, Barcelona face Chelsea, Manchester United battle for Givairo Read

Givairo Read has some of the biggest clubs chasing his signature ahead of the summer, with Feyenoord ready to sell at a certain price point.

According to Caught Offside, Liverpool and Barcelona are facing intense competition for the signature of Givairo Read ahead of the summer. The talented teenage right-back has caught the attention of the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United among others, as Feyenoord might sell for their asking price.

Givairo Read has made an excellent impression in his breakthrough season with Feyenoord’s first team, as he’s now one of the first names on the teamsheet. He has managed to provide seven assists while scoring a solitary goal across all competitions, with many top teams chasing his signature for the creativity he brings from the full-back position.

Chelsea and Manchester United are seen as the latest teams to join in the hunt for Read. The Blues have been looking for a young right-back option to complement or compete with Malo Gusto, as Reece James is seen more as a midfielder by Enzo Maresca. The idea is to continue their quest of adding young players with a big upside for the future, something the Dutch teenage right-back has shown in his game.

Manchester United are essentially looking at some options to bolster different sides of their team. The right-back position may not need reinforcements given Ruben Amorim’s side have reliable options there, but adding a young star there would be something the club can think about. Feyenoord, for their part, are demanding €25-30 million, and should an interested party pay close to that, Read will be sold.

Liverpool and Barcelona are front runners for Givairo Read

Liverpool have scouted Read along with Manchester United, as Arne Slot would be open to working with a player he knows well from his time at Feyenoord. Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to leave the club with some reports stating he has already penned a pre-contract agreement with Real Madrid. The club are probably not looking at Read as a direct replacement for him but as a competitive option alongside Conor Bradley.

Barcelona are also interested in Read, as the club are open to adding a new player with a different profile for the right-back slot. The €25-30 million-rated Dutch full-back whizkid is seen as an ideal option to bring a creative outlet from the role, although the Catalans still view Jules Kounde as their main starter in the defensive role.
