Inter Milan run rule over Josh Acheampong

Italian giants Inter Milan have reportedly scouted Chelsea defensive sensation Josh Acheampong ahead of a potential move.

According to a report from The Sun, Inter Milan are interested in Josh Acheampong’s services, and they have sent a scout to watch the teenage sensation in action during the international break. The Sere A champions could end up making a move for the Chelsea defender this summer.

Acheampong has been a part of the Chelsea setup since his childhood days. The teenage sensation went up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to their first team towards the end of last year.

He has featured in a total of nine first-team matches, eight of which have come in the ongoing campaign. While the 18-year-old prefers playing as a right-back, he is equally effective in a central defensive role.

The English youth international has massive potential, but since Chelsea have a stacked squad, he might not get enough opportunities at the London club. As a result, quite a few clubs have been keeping a close eye on him and could look to make a move for him in the summer.

Inter are interested in Acheampong

Inter Milan are among the clubs interested in the teenager, with reinforcing their backline a priority. With Matteo Darmian already 35, a younger right-back option is essential. Inter also need more depth at the heart of the defence, as 33-year-old Stefan de Vrij’s contract expires in the summer amid his links with Liverpool, while Francesco Acerbi is already 37.

Acheampong’s arrival could help strengthen both of those positions, and Inter Milan have already started working towards a potential transfer. Inter asked one of their scouts to travel to Bangor to watch the 18-year-old in action during the international break.

The scout was in the stands to keep an eye on him during the England Under-19s game against Wales. While scouting him suggests their interest in concrete, they still have a long way to go before they can sign him.

Acheampong has just broken into the Chelsea first team, and his contract with them runs until the summer of 2029. They consider him an important part of their future plans. As a result, the Blues might not agree to a permanent transfer. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how Inter proceed with it.
