Real Madrid rule out Enzo Fernandez move in favour of Angelo Stiller

Real Madrid have potentially ruled out a move for Enzo Fernandez in the summer as they set sights on signing German midfielder Angelo Stiller instead.

According to Fichajes, Real Madrid may have potentially earmarked a big midfield signing in the summer and it may not be Enzo Fernandez. The Spanish giants are eager to sign a midfielder in the close season, although they are ready to rule out a move for the Argentine in favour of bringing in German talent Angelo Stiller.

Real Madrid have yet to replace Toni Kroos since his retirement, and now they are staring at the prospect of being without Luca Modric. The veteran Croatian is still angling for a new one-year deal at the club, and Carlo Ancelotti’s side might start looking for a long-term successor.

There have been links to several stars, although in recent times they have ruled out a move for Martin Zubimendi, who in any case is reportedly close to joining Arsenal. There were links to Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea, with suggestions that the Blues might consider a big enough offer for the 24-year-old World Cup winner.

However, Fernandez will be an expensive acquisition for Real Madrid and given they are not looking to spend a big deal on a midfielder, Florentino Perez might look at a cheaper alternative. Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller has been a player of interest to the Spanish giants, as they have been monitoring his progress for quite some time.

With Real Madrid now set to rule out a potential move for the 24-year-old Chelsea mainstay, they will look to trigger the €36.5 million release clause in Stiller’s deal at Stuttgart, which could get the deal over the line. There have been other suitors for the former Bayern Munich youth star, as Real Madrid’s interest might seem enough for the midfielder to decide on his future.

Why are Real Madrid interested in Angelo Stiller?

For starters, the Stuttgart midfielder has made his mark on the game and is seen as one of the rising stars of German football. His style of play reportedly suits what Real Madrid are looking at and that may be a bigger reason over the financial aspect, considering he is far cheaper than the likes of the 24-year-old Chelsea mainstay or even Zubimendi.

Real Madrid are also looking for a long-term option in midfield, with Perez not sure of the current options he has. With time, they will have to replace Modric, although Stiller is seen as more of a successor to former man Kroos.
