Liverpool and Manchester City are reportedly keen on signing 15-year-old Ecuadorian prodigy Johan Martinez from Independiente del Valle.
According to TEAMtalk, the two Premier League clubs will face competition from multiple European clubs for the 15-year-old South American prodigy. Martinez is highly rated across Europe and he could prove to be a quality long term addition for the two clubs. Bayer Leverkusen, Parma, and Wolfsburg are keen as well.
Liverpool are looking to build a squad for the future and the 15-year-old would be a future asset for them. He could develop into an important player and he could solve they are attacking problems. They need more quality and depth in the wide areas.
As far as Manchester City are concerned, they will need to add more quality and cutting edge in the final third as well. The 15-year-old could be a quality long term acquisition for them and working under Pep Guardiola could bring out the best in the player.
Both clubs could nurture him into a future star and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
Martinez could fancy a big move
Liverpool and Manchester City are among the biggest clubs in the country and the opportunity to join them will be attractive for any player. Convincing Martinez to join them should not be difficult. It remains to be seen whether they can agree on a fee with his club now. Both clubs have the resources to get the deal across the line and it will be interesting to see where the South American attacker ends up.
He should seek game time assurances before joining a big club in the summer. Sitting on the bench is unlikely to benefit him and he needs to play regularly at this stage of his career in order to continue his development and improve as a player.
Martinez needs to focus on his development for now. If he manages to fulfil his potential in the coming seasons, he will have plenty of opportunities to play for big clubs in the future. Sitting on the bench at a big club will hamper his development now and it will be detrimental to his growth as a player.
