Xavi Simons is very much expected to leave RB Leipzig in the future to seal a move to the Premier League with a host of teams interested.
According to Caught Offside, Xavi Simons could be headed to the Premier League in the summer, although a move is not certain amid links with with a host of top teams. The RB Leipzig playmaker sealed a permanent move to the Bundesliga giants in January, although his price tag ahead of the close season could be an issue for some of the interested teams including Manchester United.
Christian Falk has made some comments on Caught Offside regarding Xavi Simons’ immediate future, with the journalist claiming the playmaker could be headed to the Premier League. RB Leipzig had the Dutchman on loan for 18 months now and took the chance to make the deal permanent in January when PSG were desperate to make some loan departures of their other players.
Having signed a deal with Leipzig only until the summer of 2027, the Bundesliga side might be looking to sell the player in the upcoming summer transfer window. While they had placed a price tag of €80-90 million, Falk’s comments suggest he could be signed for as much as €70 million in the upcoming window.
Falk said, “It’s clear any offer needs to be over €50m-60m wouldn’t be enough, but if it gets to €70m, they can’t say no to Xavi if he wants to make the next step to the Premier League. Everyone knows that he’s going to make this step but it’s not clear if he makes the move this summer or the next.”
Liverpool are ready to pay big for Simons, as the Reds are gearing up for an important summer window ahead where they could make some drastic changes to their squad. The Merseysiders are not alone in the race for the Dutchman, who has contributed to 13 goals this season, as Manchester City are also in the running.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is looking at potential options to replace the talent of Kevin De Bruyne in the summer. The idea of Simons might be a bright one, and the club may not face any issues coughing up the asking price of around €70 million.
Manchester United are interested in Xavi Simons
With the Dutch playmaker likely to be made available in the summer, Manchester United have had an interest in him for some time now. However, the price tag is still an issue for the Red Devils to make a move, and there are some well-documented financial constraints placed by the club’s management.
In any case, should Manchester United manage to conduct sales of some homegrown stars, they will be in a fluid position to make some big moves, including that of Simons. For now, they will have to make up their mind quickly, as the Dutchman seems like someone who Leipzig will want to find a solution to as soon as possible, with Liverpool and Manchester City keen.
