Manchester City are eyeing a cut-price deal to sign Swedish attacking sensation Roony Bardghji this summer.
After a disappointing 2024/25 campaign, Manchester City are expected to undergo a major overhaul. They will be looking to lower the average age of their squad and will most likely push to sign some of the best young stars from across Europe.
They have a long-standing interest in FC Copehagen’s Rooney Bardghji, and according to a report from Football Insider, City are set to try and sign the Swedish youth international on a free transfer.
Bardghji came into the limelight a couple of seasons back after he became the youngster player to score against Manchester United in the Champions League. He was just 17 back then and has only gone from strength to strength.
While a cruciate knee ligament injury did derail his progress, he is hoping to bounce back and once again prove his credentials ahead of a move to a bigger club. Manchester City have a long-term interest in him.
City want to sign Bardghji for free
They have been scouting the young star who has been dubbed “the Swedish Messi” and would love to add him to their squad ahead. Not only is he considered a perfect fit for Pep Guardiola’s system, but the 19-year-old could also be a great acquisition in the long run.
With his current deal running out towards the end of 2025, City are looking to sign him on a free transfer. The Manchester-based giants see this as a great opportunity to sign a world-class star for nothing.
Meanwhile, Bardghji is all set to make a return next month, and he will be hoping to get back to his best between now and December as he seeks the best possible move to advance his career.
While City don’t really have any competition at this stage, the teenager’s performances could result in interest from other top clubs who have been linked with him in the past. As a result, Guardiola’s team might not find it that easy to secure his services for free.
