Manchester United have decided against keeping Jadon Sancho at the club next season.
According to a report from Football Insider, Manchester United have made a decision regarding the future of Jadon Sancho. They are unwilling to keep the former Borussia Dortmund star at the club next season.
The Red Devils forked out a massive £73 million to sign Sancho back in 2021. While he was one of the best young players in the world at that point in time, the move to Old Trafford didn’t go according to plan for him.
He couldn’t live up to the expectations, and things went from bad to worse under Erik ten Hag. The Dutch manager had a rift with the English international, after which he was banished from the first team.
He eventually left the club to rejoin Dortmund on a short loan. While he did impress during the stint at his former club, Ten Hag didn’t have him in his plans. As a result, United ended up loaning him out to Chelsea for the 2024/25 season.
Where will Jadon Sancho play next season?
The Blues acquired his services for the ongoing campaign with an obligation to buy worth £25 million. While he could complete a permanent switch to Stamford Bridge in the summer, they do have an option to pay a fee to cancel the deal if they wish.
He has been involved in a total of 28 matches for the London club and has contributed towards eight goals. The 24-year-old has done a decent job for Enzo Maresca’s team, who would love to have him at his disposal for years to come.
Chelsea are certain to sign Sancho if they manage to qualify for the Champions League. Given how things have panned out so far, they shouldn’t have a problem securing a top-five finish. Even if they do not sign him, he is unlikely to have a future at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils do not consider him a part of their plans, even though they have parted ways with Ten Hag. United want to cash in on him as his departure could help balance their books, and his massive wages could make room for some significant signings.
