Chelsea will pay €45-50 million to sign Geovany Quenda

Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Geovany Quenda and will pay around €45-50 million for the Portuguese teenage talent.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea will shell out a fee of around €45-50 million to land Portuguese sensation Geovany Quenda. The Sporting CP winger has been on the radar of some of the top clubs in the Premier League, although the Blues have seemingly won the race and will pay a hefty fee.

Geovany Quenda has been playing some sensational football for Sporting CP over the last 18 months. The winger broke through the Portuguese club under the tutelage of former manager Ruben Amorim, with strong rumours linking the teenager with a move to Manchester United earlier.

Manchester United were in advanced talk earlier in the year, with strong reporting suggesting they were inching closer to finding an agreement with Sporting CP. In a rather big twist of fate, the Red Devils are no longer in the mix, with Chelsea stealing the march for the teenage winger.

Chelsea won the race for Qeuenda and found an agreement with Sporting CP for the attacker over a long-term deal. The Blues will pay a fee of around €45-50 million for the 17-year-old prodigy, with Quenda set to sign a deal until 2033 with an option to extend it by another year.

Moreover, the terms of the agreement between Chelsea and Sporting allow Quenda to remain with the Portuguese club until the end of the 2025-26 season, meaning this idea will help him develop further. Either way, the Blues have a top prospect on their hands, with the €45-50 million feeling likely to represent value in the future.

Where does Geovany Quenda fit in at Chelsea?

Quenda has been a regular starter for Sporting CP since his breakthrough into the team, and when he does leave the club in 2026, he will look for regular playing time. Chelsea are stacked with attacking talents, who are not necessarily old, and if given the right conditions, those current stars can establish themselves for many years to come.

However, the arrival of Quenda in 2026 does allow Chelsea to figure more things out on the right wing where the 17-year-old prodigy likes to operate. He will likely come as a much-improved player than now, and could easily challenge the current stars for a place in the starting lineup.
