Andrea Berta could push for the signing of Lautaro Martinez in the summer as he could be an option for Arsenal’s ongoing search for a new striker.
According to Fichajes, Andrea Berta could recommend the signing of Lautaro Martinez to solve Arsenal’s striker problem. The €100 million-rated World Cup-winning striker has been a key part of Inter Milan’s title-winning side a couple of seasons ago, although there are doubts whether the Gunners would want to invest big in the 27-year-old.
Arsenal are in the market for new attacking signings, and they will be aided by the arrival of incoming Sporting Director Andrea Berta. There have been a flurry of media reports stating the Italian is already working on some high-profile deals to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Bruno Guimaraes has been linked as Arsenal could potentially lose both Thomas Partey and Jorginho in the summer. The Brazilian’s arrival is seen as an addition to Martin Zubimendi, with Arsenal having a deal in place for the Real Sociedad defensive midfielder.
Berta also wants Matheus Cunha at Arsenal, with the director’s previous connections with the Brazilian likely to play a huge role in the chase. The Italian transfer guru is also prioritising contract renewals for Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba while also looking for a new striker option.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Benjamin Sesko, as Alexander Isak is considered too costly for their taste. The idea here is to bring a young forward in addition to another attacker and use them alongside existing options like Kai Havertz and even Mikel Merino. However, Berta has recommended a new name in €100 million-rated World Cup-winning striker and Inter Milan skipper Lautaro Martinez.
Andrea Berta eager to sign Martinez
The Inter Milan skipper has been linked with Arsenal before, and Berta might want to resurrect an old interest in the Argentine. The Italian wanted to bring the World Cup winner to Atletico Madrid and might revive the idea at Arsenal, with Inter Milan wanting at least €100 million to sell their key man.
Whether Arsenal are open to the idea of investing big in the Argentine remains to be seen, as they can land other targets for far less than the €100 million mentioned. Moreover, the upside to this transfer is low in terms of the resale value among other things, although Martinez could potentially improve Arteta’s current attacking quality in the final third.
